Philosophy
I like to approach teaching government by first answering the question of "Why we have government?" and "What would life be like without government (in the State of Nature)?". From this point, I want my students to understand what they think, why they think it, and why others might think differently than them. I teach students why it is important to understand this class and what might happen if you do not. I show students the effect of active citizenship and the civic responsibility we all have to be informed and participate in our democratic society. Students who leave this class will be fully prepared to participate in our democracy and understand their rights and responsibilities in promoting and protecting social justice and freedom.
